What with one thing and another as happens in life, I woke up today and realised I am lacking a bit of joy. I reckon it’s pretty easy to hum drum along day to day and forget about joy. So today I am heading out to reclaim some joy in my life.
Idea 1: Gardening – so I have spent the last hour in the garden with my hands in the dirt getting the soil ready to plant some autumn and winter vegies and just doing a bit of a potter. Result – garden looks better, I feel a little better. Joy factor .2 Idea 2: Body language – following on from the concept that manipulating my physiology I can affect my emotions. So...I walk with a spring in my step and swing my arms. Apparently this is a tried and true way of feeling happy. I walk for 1km then home, then stand under a big gum tree with my arms out and my head back looking at the amazing blue sky that is today. Result – what a beautiful day – I didn’t notice that before. Joy factor 5 Idea 3: Make someone else happy. I stole this idea from Deepak Chopra – his thing for this week is to make at least one person happy every day. I have always been taught that you can’t make someone feel anything...but am willing to give this a go. So taking a look at the small things – these are the things that can help...smile, hug, dishes, random cup of tea... Result – pending. Joy factor – fun – the thought of this is making me happy!
