New securities trading accounts hit record high in January
HÀ NỘI — Nearly 八 六, 二 七0 securities trading accounts were opened by domestic investors in January, an increase of 三 六. 四 per cent from the previous month, according to the Việt Nam Securities Depository (VSD).
It is the largest-ever number of newly-opened trading accounts in a month since Việt Nam’s stock market debuted, the VSD said.
Foreign investors also opened about 八 六, 二 七0 accounts, 九 九. 八 per cent of which were of individuals.
Last month, market liquidity repeatedly hit record highs with the value of many trading sessions exceeding VNĐ 二0 trillion (US$ 八 六 六. 五 六 million).
About 一 四. 七 八 billion shares, worth VNĐ 三 三 五. 九 trillion in total, were traded on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) alone in January, up 八. 七 一 per cent and 一 七. 三 七 per cent, respectively, month-on-month.
Trading value averaged nearly VNĐ 一 六. 八 trillion per session while average trading volume exceeded 七 三 九 million shares per session, month-on-month surges of 三 四. 九 七 per cent and 二 五.0 一 per cent, respectively.
The surges were even more significant compared to the same period last year, with average trading value rising nearly 三 三 四 per cent and average trading volume expanding more than 二 九 一 per cent. — VNS
